Some one I know was the only guy left on his block. Kandahar was a ghost-town.
Finally, every one has had a-stinkin-nuff of the bandits and the Taliban take over propelled on a wave of every one who had not left yet.
The Taliban take over, and its like Stalin's Russia: Food & order. But you have to toe the line. His line.

I am reminded of this little tidbit from back in 2011.
Yup. There is a serious structural and tactical problem with our military operations as they currently exist, and it goes a little something like this:
No metric for success. No trigger for completion. No plan to call it a day and leave, ever.
Endless war.
It started out as a war to kill or capture OBL, and the Taliban that were hiding him. We determined quite some time ago that OBL was no longer in Afghanistan, and by that time, we had sent the Taliban packing.
We should have left at that exact moment, because at that moment, our goals were complete.
Anything after that was folly. Nation building. Attempting to force people in foreign countries to live our way, by our ideals, by shoving it down their throats at the end of a gun barrel.
Destroy the enemies of the United States of America AND THEN LEAVE.
