In some ways, motorcycles are like guns
They're dangerous if you're an idiot (ZOMG! "Common Sense" motorcycle control!). Having one is an expression of freedom. And the "New Rider" smile looks a lot like the "New Shooter" smile.
And oh yeah - your bike sucks and you're riding it wrong.

I thought that was the default setting, and that gun guys learned the technique from bikers.
A major difference is that you can, if you like, buy a brand-new motorcycle that's fully automatic.
You don't have to pay the government $200 for permission to make a motorcycle quieter. You might have to pay if you make it louder, but that is a rite of passage, not a felony.
