Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - The Magic Flute, to gunfire

Culturally, Japan seems to be a huge mashup, combining the classicWestern cultural icon with a Japanese trope that is entirely sui generis.  And so with Mozart's Magic Flute opera and school girl anime.

But this isn't any sort of creepy Japanese school girl anime, this is Japanese school girl Special Forces anime.  To Mozart's opus.  Which is still entirely strange - sui generis, even - and proof that each generation remakes and re-purposes the art of prior generations, and makes it live again.

She has a PS 90 and they even show the empty brass as the 5.7 x 28.
An odd juxtaposition with Mozart, that's for sure.

I like Mozart, but the movie Kick Ass has better music+little girl violence hook-ups. :)

The Queen of the Night's Aria is one of my favorite operatic pieces of all time. Excellent choice. :)

Pretty good video, too.

Gunslinger Girl is an excellent anime as much for the music as the story and animation. I recommend it highly.

I've got all the episodes on DVD.
While it's an interesting series, it's also kind of sad.

Reminds me a lot of the anime sequence of Kill Bill. I kept forgetting to watch the cartoon and concentrating on the music though - I LOVE the Vengeance Aria!!!
