The desert does bloom, you know

It's quite pretty when it does.

These grow wild outside the company's office building in Austin.  Different sorts of flowers here in Atlanta, because it's not a desert ...

New York's not a desert either, but I do get a bloom like that on my prickly pear now and then. They're surprisingly hardy given the winters here.

If you decide to try to plant one in your yard, keep an eye on it. They don't grow as fast as kudzu but they will spread.

I always thought the desert was stunning in bloom, then again I do love cacti. That picture makes me miss Arizona something fierce.
