Charles Wesley - Jesus Christ Is Risen Today

If there's a single word that sums up the spirit of Easter for me, it's triumphant.  It must be said that much of any hymnal will be pretty uninspired, but the music that gets rolled out for Easter service will usually be the best of the best.  If you're lucky to have an organist and choir of superior quality, this hymn will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.  At that point, you will understand the day's meaning entirely, from your toes to the top of your head.

This is very often chosen as the recessional music, which is fitting.  While everyone will have to return to their own lives and problems, for one glorious moment the world is fresh once again, and it's grand to be alive.  Triumphant, even.

May your Easter Sunday be spectacular, and triumphant.

Jesus truly was an amazing person. When faced with a God that by human standards had to that date been a sociopathic mad man, he responded by preaching messages of love and sacrifice to your fellow man, and essentially only by proxy to God, showed his sacrifice to the world, and in my mind, completely changed the way that God views us all and the way the He deals with us. Jesus did that, alone and unafraid.

Imagine if we still had the God of the Old Testament today, what with Jersey Shore and Real Housewives of Orange county. I'd be waiting daily for the flood to come.
