There is not any case of a recruit shooting a Drill Instructor that I ever heard of. It could happen, rifles and ammunition are available at certain times. All I wanted to do when they issued me ammunition was shoot the highest possible score and qualify expert.
I got treated just about like the recruits in Full Metal Jacket, back in 1977 when I went through. We all did.
Remember that recruits are volunteers, we were there to become Marines, and that for all the yelling, hard training, and seeming abuse, the goal is to weed out people like the jackwagon on the couch. One of two things has to happen, either they find the man inside themselves or they wash out. The result is Marines.

11 or 12 weeks of that therapy will fix any ideas you have about your problems.
